The installation process went pretty smooth, and the installer did not install any bloatware or adware during the process. EaseUS website is also easy to navigate, and the user interface of the EaseUS Todo PCTrans has a minimalistic vibe to it.
The main landing screen of the application contains a navigation pane on the left and corresponding actions in the main action area. In version 11 of the software, EaseUS Todo PCTrans offers PC to PC apps and data migration, creating the backup and restore images and cleaning tools to clear space. The setting up process was not too complicated and worked flawlessly.
Overall, we pretty much liked how modern the user interface of the application is when you look into the alternatives. Some of the similar software looks like you need to be a programmer to understand what you are doing, and EaseUS, as always, have done their part exceedingly well to keep this application simple.
What makes the EaseUS Todo PCTrans different from its competition is the ease of use, and it just works. In the week of testing, we did not face any hitches in data migration, but we had a stable link to the network all the time.
PC to PC: EaseUS Todo PCTrans allows migrating user accounts and settings from one PC to another. You need to install the software on both PCs and have them on the same network to begin the transfer.
Image Transfer: It also allows users to create images to backup files, programs, and settings. Using this feature, you can archive your data in case you need to restore it later. This will also help users that want to migrate data from one PC to another that can’t be on the same network.
App Migration: Have a large-sized app that you might need later but need that extra space for now? Create an image and put it away on another disk. When you restore it, all the in-application data will also be restored, and you can resume using it just where you left it!
System Cleanup: The software scans the OS drive for temporary files and other junk that can be deleted so that you can utilize the extra space.
Large File Cleanup: Allows users to scan their drives for large files. It makes deleting old or unnecessary files easier, as you can view the list of files from largest to smallest.
We tested this application to transfer data across a few machines, which included one Xeon workstation, one gaming computer, and one utility laptop. We felt that in most cases, the performance was capped by the disk speeds, and that made us realize that there is no bottleneck in the way the software works. It is faster on SSDs than HDDs, and extra cores of CPU help boost the performance, if the disk copes up with the speeds.
The EaseUS Todo PCTrans comes in three bundles.
- The freeware (Free) contains basic functionalities, allowing users to transfer up to 500MB of data and up to two applications each to be transferred to another PC and a disk.
- The Professional Edition ($49.95) can be used on two PCs. It comes with no limits on backup and restores as well as the transfer cap. However, you can’t use it for business purposes.
- The Technician Edition ($300.00) of EaseUS Todo PCTrans does not have any limitations. It can be used on multiple PCs and can be used for professional work, as well.
